Course Description:  The sessions explore the making of dance on film, featuring films Laurence Siegel has produced with various dancers and choreographers. The classes will focus on the process of making a dance film; working with choreographers and dancers; editing film, from taking motion on motion to telling the stories of the dance and the choreographer’s process. Mr. Siegel will also discuss the life of a dance film once it’s shot and how to get it viewed by the public. Each film will present a specific choreographer in the process of creating a dance with dancers to give an inside view of what the choreographer, dancers, and filmmaker go through to make a dance film. Choreographers include Susie Burpee, Allen Kaeja, Carol Anderson, Phyllis Whyte, William Yong, Belind McGuire, and Hanna Keil.
