Course Description:   The creation of the Office of the President of the United States of America was revolutionary and unique. This six-session course will focus on the history of the U.S. presidency, the men who have served in that role, how they changed America and how the position changed them. We will cover the evolution of American presidential elections; campaign rhetoric and presidential spin; presidential power, leadership and courage; appraising the presidents; life after the White House; and finally, what the 2024 election holds for America's future.

Location: Harbor Club

Dates/Times: Tuesdays Jan 9 to Feb 13, from 9:30 am - 10:45 am.

Instructor:  John Scibak

John Scibak was an elected member of the Selectboard in South Hadley, Massachusetts for 12 years and in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 2003 to 2019. Prior to joining the legislature, he worked for many years as a researcher and administrator in health care and human services, and held academic positions at Notre Dame, Indiana University, the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, and Westfield State University. John graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology and a specialization in developmental disabilities and applied behavior analysis.
